About The Role

We are seeking a talented, multitasking and detail‑oriented Electrical Design Engineer to join our hard‑working department.

As part of the team, you will be responsible for carrying out a variety of engineering duties including designing and developing control systems for large scale, electrical process heaters.

Within the team you will check other engineers’ technical documentation ensuring compliance and becoming a subject‑matter expert within the highly regulated hazardous area process industry.

It is essential you are a good communicator as you will collaborate with Project management, Drafting, Purchasing and Production teams, using in-depth knowledge of the latest design trends and engineering software to lead the way.

All candidates should be creative thinkers with excellent problem‑solving skills.

Duties / Responsibilities

  • Review client specifications and quotations for the control panels being engineered.
  • Produce an Auto CAD Electrical set of control panel schematic and general arrangement diagrams ensuring co‑ordination with the heater design documents that the control panel will control.
  • Produce all other technical related documentation, to meet the requirements of the project.
  • Issue the documentation to the document control department for submission to clients and control documentation internally in accordance with the QMS.
  • Provide necessary assistance to the Project manager to answer any design queries raised by clients during the approval period.
  • Once the drawings are received back from clients, review all the comments that have been made against the applicable specifications.

Any deviations should be resolved with the client in conjunction with the Project Manager, before updating the drawings to incorporate the agreed changes.

  • Once revised documents are completed, prepare a list of control panel components which can be issued to the purchasing department.
  • During the construction of the control panel in the workshop, ensure all clients requests are met and answer any technical queries raised during the build.
  • Support the production team during manufacture.
  • Provide support programming PLCs and other software‑based components for test and commissioning as required.
  • During and after the FAT, provide support to the test engineers/Project Manager as required to achieve a release of the control panel from the client as quickly as possible.
  • Complete all ‘AS BUILT’ documentation for inclusion within the final data book including BOM, CRM etc.
  • Assist where necessary with EX Services (Product Support and Maintenance) for any technical queries from clients raised on site during installation/commissioning of control panels.
  • To provide status updates of all contracts being engineered to the Project Management team enabling deadlines set to be met for the successful completion of the contract.
  • To provide support and assistance, where possible, on other Engineers projects at times of sickness and for holiday cover.
  • To assist with the training of other members of staff and apprentices.
  • To comply with the health and safety regulations in place at the time and to adhere to all other EXHEAT policies.

The Employee shall devote their whole time, attention and skill to their duties hereunder and in addition such other duties as may from time to time be reasonably required of them for the proper and efficient running of the Employer’s business.
