About The Role
Reports To: Head of Engineering/Technical Director
Duties & Responsibilities
The Senior Design Engineer will assume responsibility for technical support across EXHEAT Ltd. The role will support the heater engineering function and project teams with all aspects of engineering design, calculations, analysis, and engineering development.
As a project engineering team leader, the Senior Design Engineer will plan output and mentor their engineering team in the UK and in India. The Senior Design Engineer will ensure the EXHEAT Ltd engineering department follows and develops engineering best practice, drawing developments and design optimisation, ensuring accurate delivery to stakeholders.
The role will work closely with the Technical Manager (Heaters) to ensure that handover from Sales to Engineering is aligned with the project requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Management of Project Engineering team ensuring deadlines are achieved.
- Close interaction with the Project Management Team supporting the projects team and project design engineers with client meetings when required.
- Review and development of engineering procedures and working practices within the engineering department to identify areas of improvement and standardisation which will lead to cost/time reduction and improved efficiency.
- Final drawing, technical documentation and bill of materials approvals, checked for accuracy and completeness.
- Assume responsibility for the development of engineering calculations, material selections and design analysis using the correct tools.
- Be the technical authority when working with other departments and assume client facing project engineering role.
- Train and mentor the Engineering team with technical appraisals and advice and lend experience to large or complex projects.
- Champion design systems and software and be part of the systems change management team.
- Ensuring that all designs meet the requirements of EXHEAT Certification and local and international standards and regulations.
- Improvement of existing and development of new products.
Other Responsibilities:
- Pro-active management of the company systems ensuring all records are updated daily.
- Ensure engineering procedures are followed and active recommendations for change and improvement are driven.
- Actively generate and support initiatives that improve engineering accuracy and performance.
- Communication tools to be used fully and effectively.
