Exeter School is the leading co-educational day school in the Southwest, educating over 1,000 pupils aged 3-18. The Junior School provides an exceptional foundation for pupils, combining academic ambition with strong pastoral care and a vibrant co-curricular programme. We are seeking a dynamic, fixed-term Teaching Assistant on a full-time, term-time only basis.
Responsibilities
- Report to the Deputy Head of the Junior School and play a key role in supporting pupils’ learning, wellbeing and development.
- Work with individuals, small groups and whole classes to ensure all pupils can access learning effectively and achieve their potential.
- Build positive relationships with pupils, promote inclusion, self-esteem and independence while supporting pastoral care and providing feedback on progress.
- Support the delivery of learning activities and intervention programmes, adjusting tasks in response to pupil needs.
- Support ICT use, monitor and record progress, prepare resources, maintain classroom environments and contribute to displays.
- Support behaviour management in line with school policy, encourage positive conduct and maintain regular communication with staff, pupils and parents.
- Supervise pupils at break and lunchtime, support playground duties and ensure equipment is safe and well maintained.
- Assist with administrative tasks such as reception duties and record keeping, as well as first aid support where required and trained.
- Support school events, sports fixtures and off-site visits.
- Attend meetings, training and INSET days, and work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure the smooth running of the Junior School.

- Commitment to carrying out all duties in accordance with school health and safety procedures.
- Acceptance of a fixed-term, full-time, term-time only position.
- Ability to undergo child protection screening, DBS clearance and be willing to provide two satisfactory references specifically for this post.
