Exeter School is the leading co‑educational day school in South West England, educating over 1,000 pupils aged 3‑18. The school is seeking to appoint a part‑time (2 days per week) Library Assistant on a fixed‑term contract until August 2027 to join our senior school team. Starting in September 2026, we are looking for an enthusiastic, confident and approachable individual with a passion for reading.
Responsibilities
- Supervise the daily supervision and smooth running of the senior school library on the two days when the Librarian is not on site.
- Maintain a calm, purposeful and welcoming environment for pupils aged 11‑18.
- Manage day‑to‑day delivery of library services and undertake administrative and clerical duties related to the library.
- Deliver outstanding support to the librarian and take responsibility for any agreed training.
Qualifications and Experience
- Competent and confident use of IT, with basic skills in PowerPoint and Canva.
- Specific qualifications, experience and/or training that are advantageous; please indicate any relevant experience on your application.
Working Hours and Contract
The position is fixed‑term, term‑time only, working 16 hours per week across Monday and Wednesday, from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm.
Salary and Benefits
Full‑time equivalent salary of £25,896, pro rata to 2 days per week, with generous benefits including employer pension contribution, free school lunch during term time, free on‑site parking, and use of the indoor swimming pool and fitness suite.
