Exeter High School in SAU 16 seeks outstanding applicants for the position of Junior Varsity Softball Coach. Responsibilities include instructing athletes in fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training necessary for individual and team success. The coach must also demonstrate behaviours that lead to socially acceptable character development, self-discipline, self-confidence, and pride of accomplishment in student athletes. Additionally, the coach is expected to upgrade their knowledge and skills through coaching clinics, observations, and consultations.
Qualifications:
- Ability to organize and supervise a Softball program.
- Previous successful coaching experience preferred.
- Substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport and willingness to examine new theories and procedures pertinent to Softball.
- Serve as an appropriate role model for student athletes through instructions and actions.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Thorough knowledge of all athletic policies of EHS.
- Knowledge of existing NHIAA regulations.
- Understanding of the proper administrative line of command and referring all requests or grievances through proper channels.
- Aware of all public/staff/departmental meetings that require attendance.
Administrative Duties:
- Assist the athletic director in scheduling, providing transportation, and requirements for tournament and special sport events.
- Assist in the necessary preparation to hold scheduled sport events or practices and adhere to scheduled facility times.
Student Responsibilities:
- Serve as a mentor to each athlete to promote the development and demonstration of character traits such as trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship.
- Give constant attention to a student athlete's grades and conduct.
- Provide assistance, guidance, and safeguards for each participant by being present at all practices, games, and while travelling.
Reports to: The athletic director, who provides overall objectives and final evaluation in conjunction with the high school principal.
