Are you passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of families and children and young people with special educational needs? Exeter House School is an all-through Education Provision for children and young people (CYP) with severe or profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD) and complex needs. We are a supportive and nurturing community for CYP, aged 2‑19, and have been rated Good by Ofsted (Jun 23).
This role provides essential support for children with SEND, acting as the primary contact for families and delivering advice, advocacy and emotional support tailored to each individual's needs. You will work closely with students, parents, colleagues and external agencies to ensure children thrive academically, socially and emotionally. The successful candidate will work across all four school sites (Salisbury and the new satellite provision in Tidworth) and visit families in their homes. A valid driving licence and willingness to drive are essential.
Key Responsibilities- Provide advice, advocacy and emotional support to families of children with SEND.
- Collaborate with students, parents, colleagues and external agencies to support children’s academic, social and emotional development.
- Deliver support across all school sites and family homes, requiring reliable transport.
- Maintain accurate records and support the school’s safeguarding procedures.
- Experience working with children with SEND in an educational or support setting.
- Familiarity with SEND frameworks and legislation.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Empathy, patience and the ability to build trusting relationships with families.
- Proactive attitude and ability to work autonomously as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
