As a Tenancy Management Officer, you will play a vital role in helping people sustain their council accommodation and prevent homelessness. Working with tenants and partners, you will provide practical support, advice and early intervention to address issues such as tenancy breakdown, rent arrears and disputes. You will manage a varied housing management caseload, working proactively to identify risks and put in place solutions that help individuals remain in safe, suitable housing. Responsibilities:
- Provide practical support, advice and early intervention to tenants, to address tenancy breakdown, rent arrears and disputes.
- Manage a varied housing management caseload, proactively identifying risks and implementing solutions that help individuals remain in safe, suitable housing.
- Operate in a fast‑paced, customer‑focused environment using a person‑centred, trauma‑informed approach, balancing support with clear decision‑making.
- Balance support with clear decision‑making and use negotiation and problem‑solving skills to resolve issues such as tenancy breakdown, arrears, or disputes.
Qualifications and experience:
- Experienced housing professional with a strong understanding of tenancy management, homelessness, and the challenges faced by people at risk of losing their homes.
- Experience of working in a customer‑facing housing or support role, with sound knowledge of landlord and tenant law, tenancy rights and responsibilities, and safeguarding.
- Strong communicator, able to build positive relationships with tenants, landlords, partners and colleagues.
- Organised and able to manage a varied caseload, balancing competing priorities while maintaining accurate records and meeting deadlines.
- Confident using IT systems to record activity, monitor cases and support service delivery.
- Capable of working in a trauma‑informed, non‑judgemental way and committed to equality, diversity and inclusion.
