The predicted salary is between 36000 - 60000 £ per year.

You will act as the professional lead with respect to licences issued under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) (England) Regulations 2018. You will also be required to act as a specialist for the licensing administrative function and carry out enforcement for a wide variety of licences under the Licensing Act 2003, Gambling Act 2005, Street Trading, Hackney Carriage and Private Hire legislation.

The role includes dealing with a range of licence applications and dealing with members of the public, applicants and licence holders in person, via email and over the telephone. The post involves flexible working; however, there is a requirement to work in the office and complete visits within the district.

About the team: Exeter City Council is striving to have a strong reputation for its pro‑active work across Environmental Health and Licensing. The Council has ambitious plans to create a safe evening and night‑time economy through an integrated approach with our partners.

You will be an experienced Licensing Officer and will hold a Level 3 qualification in Inspection of Animal Establishments for Animal Activities Licensing (or equivalent) granted by a body recognised and regulated by the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual). It is essential that you have good verbal and written communication skills and have sound legal knowledge. You will have experience of preparing and presenting reports to Committees and be required to attend court.
