Exeter City Football Club seeks to ensure the safety, safeguarding and wellbeing of all children, young people and adults at risk who engage in its activities. We are seeking a highly motivated and knowledgeable First Team Goalkeeper Coach to lead the development, preparation, and performance of the Club’s goalkeepers. Working as part of the first-team coaching staff, the successful candidate will play a key role in match preparation, training delivery, player development, and goalkeeper recruitment.

In addition to the success of our Academy and men’s team, Exeter City Women successfully transitioned into being fully managed by the Club in 2024 and were promoted to the third tier of women’s football in the FA Women’s National League Southern Premier Division in 2024.

Role: The Goalkeeping Coach will lead all aspects of goalkeeper performance, development, and recruitment within the Club. The role involves preparing goalkeepers for matchday performance through detailed analysis, game-specific preparation and the delivery of goalkeeper training programmes. Working closely with coaching, analysis, and academy staff, the successful candidate will support the development of both first team and emerging goalkeepers while maintaining clear individual development plans.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading goalkeeper preparation for fixtures
- Contributing to defensive set-piece planning and matchday operations
- Designing and delivering goalkeeper-specific training sessions
- Monitoring loan players
- Creating development opportunities for high-potential academy goalkeepers
The role also supports the Club’s recruitment strategy by maintaining succession plans for contracted goalkeepers and providing regular market intelligence and target lists for transfer windows, including first-choice, backup, development, trialist, and emergency loan goalkeeper options.
