DCC Energy GB is one of Great Britain's leading multi-energy businesses, providing fuel, LPG, renewable energy, mobility and energy services solutions to homes, businesses and public sector organisations across the country. Through a portfolio of trusted businesses including Flogas Britain, Certas Energy, DCC Mobility, Centreco, Next Energy, Equity Energies, Protech and DTGen, we support customers at every stage of their energy journey, from fuel and energy supply through to energy efficiency, renewable technologies and energy management services. As part of DCC plc, we combine the strength of established market-leading businesses with a commitment to innovation, operational excellence and sustainability, helping customers navigate the energy transition while delivering long-term growth and value.

How you’ll power our business as a Strategic Energy Partner:

  • Strategic Customer ownership: Own the overall commercial strategy for a defined portfolio of strategic customers.
  • Joint Value Proposition development: Use the Joint Value Proposition as the basis for developing broader customer relationships.
  • Customer Discovery & Strategic Insight: Lead deeper customer discovery across strategic accounts, using insights to identify customer needs before they become formal procurement exercises wherever possible.
  • Account Planning & Opportunity Roadmap: Identify customer priorities, strategic objectives, relationship maps, current DCC engagement, existing products and services, known customer challenges, potential EMS opportunities, likely timing of future investments, estimated commercial value, decision-makers and influencers, competitive position, key risks and next actions.
  • Opportunity Creation: Proactively create opportunity across strategic accounts.
  • Sales Manager & Specialist Engagement: Opportunity ownership may sit with Sales, but account ownership remains with the Strategic Energy Partner.
  • Complex & Integrated Opportunity Leadership: Lead opportunities that are multi-site, multi-technology, strategically important or commercially complex.
  • Executive Customer Engagement: Build trusted relationships with senior customer stakeholders, including executives and functional leaders across finance, procurement, sustainability, operations, estates, energy, engineering and investment.
  • Commercial Ownership: Maintain a clear understanding of the commercial value and economics of the strategic account.
  • Long-Term & Recurring Revenue: Increase the proportion of customer value generated through longer-term relationships and recurring revenue.
  • Cross-DCC Customer Development: Connect the wider DCC Energy customer base with EMS.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Operate across organisational and business boundaries.
  • Pipeline & Performance: Maintain a credible multi-year opportunity pipeline and ensure opportunities are correctly recorded within CRM with realistic values, stages and timescales.

Success will be measured by the sustainable value created across the customer relationship, not simply by the number of individual transactions completed.

What we’ll need from you:

  • Demonstrable experience managing large, complex or strategically important B2B customers.
  • Experience operating in consultative, solution-led or infrastructure sales environments.
  • Strong experience developing multi-year customer strategies and account plans.
  • Evidence of creating new opportunities within existing strategic relationships.
  • Strong commercial understanding of customer investment decisions, ROI, operating cost, capital allocation and commercial risk.
  • Experience managing opportunities involving multiple customer stakeholders and decision-makers.
  • Ability to work across multiple products, services and technical disciplines without needing to be the technical specialist in each.
  • Strong understanding of energy solutions and the commercial drivers behind energy investment.
  • Experience coordinating specialist resources across complex organisations.
  • Ability to develop opportunities across multiple customer sites or business units.
  • Strong CRM, pipeline and forecasting discipline.
  • Experience of developing recurring or long-term commercial relationships would be advantageous.

The Strategic Account Manager must have sufficient commercial and energy understanding to recognise opportunity, challenge thinking and bring the right specialists together around the customer.
