  • Experience conducting rigorous scientific research and experiments from concept through to validation
  • Ability to work across multidisciplinary teams, including engineering and technical functions
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop numerical or physical models of thermal and fluid systems (e.g. CFD, reduced-order models)
  • Perform modelling of heat transfer, thermos-mechanical and fluid flow
  • Support performance prediction and optimisation of thermal energy storage systems
  • Design and execute lab-scale experiments to validate models
  • Develop experimental setups, instrumentation, and measurement methodologies
  • Analyse experimental data and derive actionable insights
  • Contribute to R&D activities across TRL 1-7
  • Support scaling from lab experiments to prototype systems
  • Support prototype testing and system validation

Technology Development & Prototyping

  • Contribute to prototype design, build, and demonstration activities
  • Work closely with engineers to integrate scientific findings into system design
  • Support troubleshooting and performance improvement of systems
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders
  • Document findings in reports, presentations, and technical documentation
  • Write or contribute to patents

Collaboration & Communication

  • Communicate technical insights clearly to multidisciplinary teams
  • Contribute to knowledge sharing and internal processes
  • Support development of IP and technical outputs where appropriate

Desirable Additional Skills

  • Engineering or physical sciences background (mechanical, chemical or electrical)
  • Programming and coding experience (Python, MATLAB, C++)
  • Experience performing R&D across TRL 1-7, including simulations
  • Experience with lab-scale testing, prototyping, and demonstrations

Useful Experience

  • Energy systems and energy storage
  • Thermal engineering and heat transfer
  • Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)
