Position: Huntington’s Disease Specialist Nurse
Location: Across all Exemplar Health Care homes – national role
Contract: 40 hours per week, predominantly Monday to Friday but must be flexible

This is an exciting opportunity to work for a forward‑thinking and growing provider as our Huntington’s Disease Specialist Nurse. As a key member of our Clinical Team, you’ll work closely with our Clinical Director to play a central role in elevating the standard of care for people living with Huntington’s Disease (HD) across our homes.

About the role: As a Huntington’s Disease Specialist Nurse, you’ll act proactively to support our homes to provide and deliver care through a systematic, coordinated and coaching approach. No two days will ever be the same, but your day‑to‑day responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the implementation of new initiatives to improve people’s quality of life
- Developing effective working practices
- Establishing a complete understanding of the needs of the people in our homes who have a HD primary diagnosis, including secondary diagnoses, complex care and risk requirements
- Tailoring colleague training requirements to meet the needs of people in a person‑centred way and supporting the delivery of this training
- Developing and embedding a HD Champion role, and supporting these Champions to link directly with their local HD networks
- Working with the Operational Team (Clinical Nurse Managers / Registered Nurses and HD Champions) to offer support and coach
- Assisting with the development of quality policies and procedures, audit materials and Service User, Colleague and Relative information materials
- Building external brand reputation in our ability to care for the people we support with HD
About you: Above all, you’re someone who identifies with our Exemplar Health Care values of fun, integrity, responsiveness, success and teamwork. You must also have a first‑level nursing registration with a valid Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) PIN and a minimum of two years’ experience in a specialist nurse role with extensive knowledge of Huntington’s Disease. You’ll also have:
- Evidence of further professional development in relation to care, management or quality
- Ability to coach and motivate others
- A strong background in action planning
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- A pragmatic approach with strong problem‑solving and analytical skills, applied in complex situations
- The ability to work collaboratively with, and travel to, all locations across the business
