Join us as our new Night Nurse Manager at Springfield Vale care home in Barnsley. In this role, you’ll work at a senior level, under the leadership of the Clinical Nurse Manager, to manage a team of nursing and care colleagues, drive quality and maintain high standards of care within the home. When open, Springfield Vale will provide nursing care for adults living with complex needs arising from dementia. We’re proud to work alongside the University of Stirling to design a purpose‑built home with dementia friendly spaces. The University of Stirling has a distinct reputation in the field of dementia and ageing. Their international centre for knowledge exchange - the Dementia Services Development Centre (DSDC) - is recognised worldwide as a leader in the field of dementia design. At Springfield Vale, we’re implementing their evidence‑based environmental design principles to offer a non-pharmacological approach to support responsive behaviours associated with dementia.

About the role

As a Night Nurse Manager with Exemplar Health Care, you’ll be at the forefront of clinical care delivery for the people living at Springfield Vale. No two days will ever be the same, but your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Leading your home’s care and nursing teams to ensure we meet the medical, physical and emotional needs of the people we support
  • Providing strong leadership to maintain and continuously develop high standards of care and drive continuous improvement
  • Overseeing and managing all your unit’s clinical elements and risks
  • Ensuring care plans and risk assessments are completed and reviewed in a timely manner and reflect care interventions appropriately
  • Acting as the Named Nurse for residents allocated to you, with responsibility for the oversight, review and update of their care profiles
  • The supervision and management of your unit’s ordering, handling, storage, administration, recording and disposal of medication.

Above all, you’re someone who identifies with our values of fun, integrity, responsiveness, success and teamwork. You’ll be a natural role model with the ability to manage your unit’s team of Registered Nurses, Nurse Associates and Health Care Assistants.

To apply for this role, you must have:

  • A valid Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) PIN.
  • Experience as a Nurse from all backgrounds, Adult, Mental Health and Learning Disability Nurses / RGN, RMN, RNLD.
  • Dementia experience and/or training or qualifications.
  • Post-registration and management or supervisory experience.

You’ll also have:

  • A thorough understanding of best practice in nursing care
  • An excellent range of clinical and communication skills that you’re able to demonstrate
  • An enthusiastic approach to encouraging and motivating people
  • The ability to work confidently on your own initiative
  • A good standard of digital skills

Follow the A628/Dodworth Road, at the roundabout take the third exit to continue on the A628/Dodworth Road. Turn left onto Springfield Road and onto Perseverance Street. Please note, Springfield Vale won’t be available to find on Google or Apple Maps until the home is registered with CQC.

The home is a short walk from several bus stops. Dodworth Road/Dean Street bus stop (stop ID: 37050295), which is accessed by buses 20, 21, 21a, 408, 410 and 422. Racecommon Road/Grafton Street bus stop (stop ID:37050421), which is accessed by buses 23a, 24, 24a and 34. Summer Lane/Newton Street bus stop (stop ID:37050423), which is accessed by bus 22a. Gawber Road/Victoria Crescent bus stop (stop ID:37050078), which is accessed by buses 93, 95, 95a and 96. There’s also a train station in the local area. Barnsley - 0.8 miles away (20 minute walk).
