General Role

The Medical Lead (Final Signatory) provides medical leadership for assigned products and therapy areas, partnering with commercial teams and acts as final medical signatory to ensure all activities are scientifically robust, balanced, and compliant.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Medical Strategy and Brand Leadership
    • Lead medical strategy for assigned products and therapy areas
    • Translate clinical evidence into clear, clinically-sound value narratives
    • Partner with Marketing and Sales to support brand planning and execution
    • Identify evidence gaps, insight opportunities, and unmet clinical needs
    • Act as a trusted medical partner to internal stakeholders
  • Medical Signatory and Scientific Accountability
    • Act as final medical signatory for promotional and non-promotional materials and activities
    • Hold accountability for scientific position, evidentiary interpretation, and risk-based decisions
    • Ensure all materials and activities are accurate, balanced, and compliant
    • Provide medical and scientific input into medical education activities, ensuring alignment with evidence, patient need, and regulatory requirements
    • Review and support the development and approval of medical education and scientific materials in alignment with Medical Affairs processes and governance
  • External Engagement and Insight Generation
    • Build and maintain credible professional relationships with healthcare professionals and external experts
    • Attend relevant scientific meetings and congresses
    • Capture, synthesise and share medical and scientific insights with the Medical Director and internal stakeholders
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Act as the medical partner to Commercial, Marketing, and other stakeholders
    • Support development of scientifically robust materials, training, and engagement activities
    • Provide constructive challenge to ensure medical integrity
  • Medical Information
    • Provide medical input into Medical Information activities as required
    • Review responses where necessary to ensure scientific accuracy and compliance
    • Act as escalation point for complex or high-risk enquiries
  • Compliance, Quality, and Professionalism
    • Ensure activities are conducted in compliance with applicable laws, ABPI regulations, and company policies
    • Operate with scientific integrity, patient focus, and professional independence
    • Apply sound judgement and a risk-based approach when contributing medical and scientific input
    • Escalate risks, issues, or uncertainties to the Medical Director as appropriate

Skills and Competencies

  • Significant experience (>5 years) as a final medical signatory
  • Strong clinical judgement and risk-based decision-making
  • Experience leading medical strategy and working cross-functionally
  • Ability to operate effectively in a matrix environment

Qualifications and Experience

  • GMC registered Medical Doctor or GPC registered Pharmacist
  • Relevant experience in Medical Affairs within the pharmaceutical environment
  • Experience in Women’s Health, CNS, or related therapy areas is desirable
