Contract: Permanent, Full time

Location: Tamworth, Staffordshire

Reports to: Pre-construction Director

This is predominantly a Head Office based role, though visits to site and suppliers will be required.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and lead the Project Engineer (PE) team to enable them to fulfil their role across all areas of project delivery.
  • Define team clarity, purpose and goals; engage the team to work together to be the best DMC Project Engineer delivery team.
  • Ensure there is clarity of roles and responsibilities within the PE team and contributions and accountabilities are clear at all phases of delivery.
  • Maintain skills matrices for each role and individual, supporting development and growth.
  • Understand each team member’s strengths and weaknesses and provide appropriate support.
  • Encourage personal learning, progression and success pathways.
  • Collect regular team feedback and act upon it.
  • Engage with other teams to bring cross‑team clarity and accountability.
  • Conduct regular one‑to‑ones and performance reviews.
  • Support PEs at design meetings with client and internal design supply chain.
  • Develop the PE team’s knowledge of PCE build systems and system thinking.
  • Ensure quality expectations for every design output are met and support compliance checks.
  • Support supply chain visits, explain suppliers’ methods and conduct inspections.
  • Assist with construction knowledge, safety and buildability training.
  • Document and enforce clear processes and quality standards for the team and division.
  • Audit team work ensuring processes and quality expectations are met; amend and improve as required.
  • Explore efficiencies that maintain accuracy, compliance and quality.
  • Encourage use of digital systems and arrange training for the team.
