A great opportunity for an experienced CNC engineer - with a 3-day weekend, every week!
Exel CNC is an established and growing UK supplier of CNC routers and fibre laser cutting machines. We're looking for a skilled, motivated and personable CNC Installation & Service Engineer to join our friendly team.
This is a varied, hands‑on position involving the installation, commissioning, servicing and technical support of CNC machinery throughout the UK.
You’ll also be involved in preparing and testing new machines at our premises before they go out to customers.
We’re looking for someone who takes real pride in their work, has strong technical knowledge and understands the importance of providing exceptional customer service.
You’ll be representing Exel CNC directly with our customers, so a professional approach, friendly personality and excellent attention to detail are essential.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Installing and commissioning CNC routers and fibre laser cutting machines at customer sites across the UK.
- Preparing, inspecting, testing and configuring new CNC machines prior to delivery.
- Training customers on machine operation, CNC controllers, software and basic maintenance.
- Diagnosing and resolving electrical, mechanical and CNC control system faults.
- Carrying out machinery servicing, maintenance and repairs.
- Providing technical support to customers both remotely and on‑site.
- Working with CNC controllers, drives, motors, electrical systems and associated components.
- Ensuring every machine installation is completed to the highest standard.
- Building excellent relationships with customers and representing Exel CNC professionally.
Some installations will require overnight stays away from home, although many will be completed without the need to stay away.
What We’re Looking For...
Essential:
- Previous experience working with CNC machinery and associated control systems.
- Good knowledge of CNC controllers, electrical systems and machine operation.
- Relevant electrical qualifications and practical fault‑finding experience.
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Full, clean UK driving licence.
- Friendly, confident and professional personality.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Self‑motivated, reliable, hard‑working and well‑organised.
- A high standard of workmanship and attention to detail.
- Willingness to travel throughout the UK and occasionally stay away overnight.
Desirable:
- Experience installing or servicing CNC routers or fibre laser cutting machines
- Forklift licence.
- Previous machinery installation or field service experience.
