Trade the Workshop for the Water: Transition your Automotive expertise to the London Marine sector. Are you a skilled Vehicle Technician, HGV Mechanic, or Workshop Specialist tired of the same four walls? My client, a premier hospitality group known for high-end, architecturally unique mobile venues, is looking for a Technical Specialist to join their London-based operations. This isn’t a standard engineering job. It’s a hybrid role for a proactive problem-solver who wants to be "on the tools" while also learning to operate and captain sophisticated vessels on the water.
How your skills translate:
If you can diagnose a diesel engine, fault-find a wiring loom, or fix an HVAC system in a car or truck, you already have 90% of the skills required. We will provide the maritime training to bridge the gap.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine servicing and fault-finding on diesel engines, generators, and cutting-edge hybrid-electric propulsion systems.
- Move from the driver’s seat to the helm. You’ll operate and drive the company’s craft under the supervision of a Senior Captain.
- Maintain the "high-end" experience by managing onboard electrical distribution, HVAC, plumbing, and heating systems.
- Implement schedules to ensure the fleet meets five-star safety and operational standards.
- Use your workshop experience to help upskill team members on equipment handling and technical safety.
Requirements
- You have a solid background in a garage, dealership, or field service environment (Automotive, HGV, or Plant).
- Experience with DC charging, power distribution, or PLC controllers is a massive plus (ideal for those working on EVs or modern diagnostics).
- A genuine desire to pivot your engineering career into the maritime sector and a passion for diesel and electric motors.
- Ability to work shifts (e.g., 2-on/2-off rotations or 5-day patterns), including some evenings during high-profile events.
- Must be based within a commutable distance of Central London.
Why Apply?
Move away from the traditional workshop into a dynamic, high-profile environment on London’s iconic waterways. Get hands-on with hybrid-electric technology that is defining the future of marine travel.
