About the Role
We are partnering with a fast-growing, boutique UK software consultancy that brings complex systems to life through secure, scalable, and resilient technology solutions.
Technical Manager , you will serve as the technical authority across our engineering strategy, architecture, and client delivery.
You will work side-by-side with mission-critical clients, primarily across classified public sector, defence, and high-stakes operational environments, where security-first design is a core requirement, not an afterthought.
This is a hands-on leadership role ideal for a seasoned technical leader or principal engineer who thrives on solving tough architectural problems, defining rigorous engineering standards, and driving cloud-native innovation.
Key Responsibilities
- Define the technical vision, architectural blueprints, and engineering standards across custom software and cloud transformation projects.
- Work directly with senior client stakeholders in classified environments to break down complex operational challenges into pragmatic, scalable solutions.
- Embed security, compliance, and automated quality checks into every stage of the software delivery lifecycle.
- Stay close to the code and infrastructure, providing peer reviews, guiding software architecture, and occasionally prototyping solutions when needed
- What We Are Looking For
- Must hold an active or recently active (lapsed within the last 12 months)
UK SC or DV Clearance .
- Deep experience architecting and deploying solutions on
- AWS
(exposure to GCP or Azure is a plus).
- Strong background in
Type Script / Java Script and Node. js for backend systems.
- Solid hands-on knowledge of Terraform, Cloud Formation, or AWS CDK, along with robust CI/CD pipeline practices.
- A track record of evaluating technologies based on business value, clean architecture, and long-term maintainability over hype.
- Experience operating effectively within Agile frameworks (Scrum, SAFe) in cross-functional client teams.
