Our client, a thriving UK-based space services company with ambitious growth plans both domestically and internationally, is seeking a visionary Chief Financial and Operations Officer to join their senior leadership team. This isn’t just a CFO role; it’s an opportunity to drive the core financial health and operational excellence of a growing enterprise. You will be instrumental in shaping the future of the business, ensuring robust financial management, and leading key operational divisions to support our accelerated growth trajectory.
The Mission
To drive sustainable growth in the UK and international space services markets by delivering robust financial leadership, operational excellence, and strategic innovation—all while maintaining strong governance, legal compliance, and risk management.
Key Responsibilities - A Dual Role
As our CFOO, you will be at the heart of our strategic decision-making, overseeing both financial and critical operational functions:
- Strategic Financial Leadership: Collaborate closely with senior leaders to shape budget proposals, ensure compliance with project financing, and facilitate accurate reporting crucial for business intelligence. Identify revenue opportunities and efficiency improvements by thoroughly analyzing operations and market trends. Oversee the financial elements of sales initiatives, implementing appropriate risk management strategies to protect our interests. Perform comprehensive risk analysis on liabilities and investments, strategically managing our capital structure and funding strategy to fuel growth. Monitor key performance metrics, implement corrective actions where necessary, and deliver insightful financial reports to leadership. Lead and mentor the finance team, ensuring our financial systems are robust and compliant with all regulatory bodies and financial standards.
- Operational Oversight & Company Secretary: Beyond finance, you will be the Company Secretary, ensuring our finances remain strong and aligned with our objectives, with a focus on daily financial operations and the financial modeling and analysis that drive sustainable growth. You will also oversee the Legal and Contracts (L&C) division, ensuring strong leadership and clear objectives across its critical functions. This involves driving operational excellence and ensuring compliance across all contractual and legal aspects of the business.
We are looking for
An experienced strategist with deep knowledge of current accounting practices, risk finance, and complex project delivery, ideally gained within dynamic sectors such as defence and space. You will bring:
- 5+ years in leadership roles, demonstrating a clear progression in responsibilities.
- Exceptional leadership, unquestionable integrity, and strong decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication abilities (verbal, written, and visual) to articulate complex financial and operational strategies effectively.
- Advanced knowledge of accounting principles, regulatory frameworks, and tax strategy.
- Familiarity with alternative capital-raising methods, showcasing your innovative financial thinking.
Why Join Us?
This is a unique opportunity to make a significant impact within a rapidly expanding company. You will not only shape our financial future but also directly influence our operational efficiency and strategic direction.
