Overview Chief Development Officer – Maritime Transportation/Shipping. Location: London. Reports to: CEO. On behalf of a key client in the maritime transportation/shipping sector, we are seeking an exceptional Chief Development Officer (CDO) to help lead their dynamic and complex operations.Mission: The Chief Development Officer (CDO) will be responsible for defining and executing the company\’s long-term vision, mission, and strategy, ensuring alignment with overall business goals. This role involves leading the business development function, identifying and pursuing new opportunities and market expansions, and overseeing strategic projects and transformation initiatives to create both operational and financial value. The CDO will be a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, working closely with other C-Suite members to provide data-driven insights that guide crucial commercial decisions.Responsibilities Strategic Direction: Implement the company\’s long-term vision and strategy, ensuring it aligns with overarching goals.Commercial Leadership: Provide data-driven insights to inform key decisions regarding pricing, route expansion, and capital deployment.Business Growth: Identify and pursue new business opportunities, partnerships, and market expansions to enhance the company\’s growth and commercial position.Partnership Management: Manage existing strategic partnerships and support the development of new ones.Corporate Transformation: Oversee strategic projects and change programmes aimed at driving operational and financial value.Pipeline Management: Build, prioritise, and maintain a clear roadmap of strategic initiatives.Cross-functional Alignment: Collaborate closely with the CEO and other senior leaders to ensure strategic initiatives are integrated into operational delivery.Requirements Minimum of 10 years of experience in strategic planning, corporate development, management consulting, or a related field.At least 5 years of experience in a senior strategy or executive leadership role within a complex organisation.Ideally, proven expertise in maritime operations. Alternatively, proven experience in international transport and/or logistics.Demonstrated experience in leading enterprise-level change programmes and aligning strategic initiatives with measurable business outcomes.Exceptional skills in stakeholder management and communication, with the ability to lead diverse teams.Strong strategic thinking and data analysis capabilities to support organisational decisions.Competitive remuneration package aligned with the seniority of the role and the market.
