My client is an established and growing business within the construction industry. They support large scale projects on all kinds of commercial properties in build and upgrade projects. The business requires a Finance Manager to lead finance and accounting across the business and manage a small team. You will work closely with the Managing Director and Senior Management Team, providing commercial support across all project areas. This is a permanent role based on-site at the company's offices in Basildon.

Key areas of responsibility will include:

  • Oversee all bookkeeping activities, including purchase ledger, sales ledger, and general ledger
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of invoices, payments, and receipts
  • Reconcile bank accounts and maintain financial records
  • Manage monthly management accounts, implement prepayments/accruals, and track project profitability
  • Manage cash flow to ensure the business meets its financial obligations
  • Monitor debtor and creditor balances, ensuring timely collections and payments
  • Implement effective credit control procedures
  • Along with an external provider manage payroll and payments
  • Oversee the processing of CIS returns
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns and liaise with external accountants/auditors
  • Work closely with project managers to monitor job costing and profitability
