Head of FP&A in Basingstoke, Hampshire

Job Description

We are looking for an ambitious and commercially minded Head of FP&A & Finance Transformation to lead Group planning, performance insight and finance transformation for a growing pharmaceutical business based in Basingstoke.

This is a role for someone who sees FP&A as more than budgets and reporting. You’ll turn financial and operational data into clear decisions, meaningful actions and measurable improvements.

You’ll work closely with senior leaders across the business, bringing together commercial insight, financial performance and operational data to help the organisation make sound business decisions. Key responsibilities include:

• Lead Group budgeting, forecasting and reforecasting, building a robust, driver-based planning process.
• Develop forward-looking analysis that supports strategic and operational decision-making.
• Own the Group KPI framework, including definitions, owners, source systems, reporting cadence, tolerances and escalation.
• Challenge and retire KPIs that don’t drive action, ensuring management attention is focused on the measures that genuinely matter.
• Lead variance analysis that goes beyond explaining the numbers to identify root cause, implications and recommendations.
• Analyse price, volume and mix to understand the drivers of revenue and margin performance.
• Partner with Commercial, Supply Chain, Operations and other senior stakeholders to turn insight into action.
• Own the finance automation roadmap, prioritising initiatives based on value, feasibility and risk.
• Quantify the impact of transformation through clear before-and-after measures, including time saved, cost reduction, improved accuracy and enhanced control.
• Identify where emerging technology can deliver genuine business value.
• Improve data quality, governance and consistency across finance and the wider business.

Succesful candidates will have a strong combination of FP&A expertise, analytical capability and transformation experience.

You’ll bring:

• A qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) or a strong analytical background with solid finance grounding.
• A proven FP&A track record covering budgeting, forecasting, driver-based planning and profitabilityanalysis.
• Strong experience analysing product and customer profitability, ideally within a manufacturing, pharmaceutical, distribution or similarly complex environment.
• A track record of delivering finance automation and process improvement, with the ability to quantify the value delivered.
• Advanced data and analytical capability, including Power BI or equivalent, Power Query and SQL.
