We are looking for a Commercial Director to lead our established online business. The ideal candidate preferably will have previous management experience in a home furnishings/flooring/furniture eCommerce business and a solid understanding of online marketing practices. While you will have a skilled team of experts handling SEO, paid marketing, and other digital strategies, we’re seeking a leader who can contribute ideas for growth and drive business performance, drawing on their previous experience. You will report directly to the Group CEO and take responsibility for the overall management, strategy, and performance of the business. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is results-driven, conscientious, and has a passion for scaling online businesses.

This is a highly commercial role, requiring a leader with significant eCommerce expertise, strategic leadership with a proven track record in online retail, particularly in homeware (preferably flooring, tiles, kitchens, or bathrooms). You will be fully accountable for the business’s performance, with a focus on scaling the online operation, optimising profitability, and delivering exceptional customer experiences. You will work closely with the ownership to execute a growth strategy that aligns with the company’s vision and values. In addition to a competitive salary and benefits package, you will have the opportunity to participate in a Long-Term Incentive Plan (LTIP), rewarding you for achieving specific growth targets over an agreed period, including stretch goals.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the company in executing its growth strategy, focusing on increasing turnover and profitability while maintaining a high standard of customer service and satisfaction.
  • Identify new opportunities for expansion, including product diversification, market penetration, and customer acquisition.
  • Lead the business with a focus on innovation, operational excellence, and customer-centricity.
  • Drive sales performance across all channels, with an emphasis on online retail.
  • Take responsibility for budget management, financial planning, and performance tracking, ensuring profitability and operational efficiency.
  • Optimise pricing strategies, promotions, and product offerings to maximise revenue and margins.
  • Oversee the daily operations of the business, ensuring the efficient functioning of all departments including sales, logistics, and customer service.
  • Implement processes and systems to improve efficiency, scalability, and customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure the business operates in compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Work closely with the marketing team, leveraging your understanding of online marketing practices to contribute ideas for growth in SEO, paid advertising, and customer acquisition strategies.
  • Build, lead, and inspire a high-performing team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and innovation.
  • Provide mentorship and development opportunities to key team members.
  • Work closely with the ownership team to align on strategic priorities and business objectives.
  • Represent the business externally, building relationships with suppliers, partners, and industry stakeholders.

  • Previous management experience in an eCommerce business.
  • A solid understanding of online marketing practices, including SEO and paid advertising, with the ability to contribute actionable growth ideas.
