About the Company

Our client is a prominent provider of energy efficiency and renewable energy solutions, dedicated to supporting the UK’s journey toward a more sustainable future. We are seeking a highly experienced Director of Operations to drive excellence across operational functions. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will be responsible for building and leading the infrastructure needed to support substantial growth trajectory. You will ensure project delivery is efficient, compliant, and scalable, playing a critical role in translating our strategic vision into on-the-ground reality.

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE

  • Deep sector experience within the energy efficiency, retrofit, renewables, construction, or a similarly regulated installation environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Operational Leadership: Develop and execute operational plans that align with the company’s long-term strategic goals. Lead the transformation and scaling of operational processes to support business growth and increased project volume. Work alongside the CEO and the senior leadership team to shape business priorities and drive key initiatives.
  • Operational Delivery & Performance: Oversee all day-to-day operational activities, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality and safety standards. Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track operational efficiency, productivity, and performance against targets. Identify opportunities for continuous improvement, implementing new systems and processes to optimise resource allocation and workflow. Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of operational managers and department leads, fostering a culture of high performance, collaboration, and accountability. Support the professional growth of your team, building a resilient and skilled operational function capable of meeting future challenges.
  • Compliance & Risk Management: Maintain rigorous oversight of all operational activities to ensure full compliance with relevant legislation, industry regulations, and accreditation standards. Act as the primary point of contact for regulatory bodies and accreditation schemes, ensuring all necessary standards are met and maintained. Proactively identify and mitigate operational risks.
  • Stakeholder & Supply Chain Management: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, subcontractors, and strategic partners to ensure a reliable and effective supply chain. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure seamless project delivery and address any operational challenges. Take ownership of operational budgets, monitoring expenditure and ensuring cost-effective use of resources. Provide accurate financial forecasting and operational insights to support the company’s financial planning and reporting.

Essential Experience & Skills

  • A proven track record in a senior operational leadership role, with experience managing multi-functional teams and large-scale operations.
  • Deep sector experience within the energy efficiency, retrofit, renewables, construction, or a similarly regulated installation environment.
  • A strong working knowledge of the regulatory and accreditation landscape governing our industry.
  • Demonstrable experience in managing complex stakeholder relationships and overseeing supply chain partnerships.
  • A strategic mindset with the ability to translate high-level goals into actionable operational plans.
  • Experience in delivering high-volume installation or retrofit programmes.
  • A background in managing quality assurance and compliance within accredited industry schemes.
  • A leader who thrives in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment and can effectively lead teams through periods of significant change.
