This is an outstanding opportunity to join a well-established engineering business that designs, manufactures and installs market-leading ventilation and extraction systems for industrial customers across the UK.
Following many successful years leading the business, the current Managing Director is stepping back from the day-to-day operation, creating an exciting opportunity for an experienced General Manager to take full operational ownership and drive the next phase of growth.
This isn’t a corporate leadership role with multiple management layers. It’s a hands-on position where you’ll have real autonomy, close customer relationships and the ability to influence every part of the business.
The Role
Reporting to the owners, you’ll assume responsibility for the day-to-day leadership of the business, overseeing manufacturing, workshop operations, installation, engineering, commercial performance and customer delivery. Working alongside the outgoing Managing Director during a structured handover, you’ll quickly develop an in-depth understanding of the business before taking full responsibility for operational performance.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading the day-to-day operation of the business.
- Managing workshop, manufacturing and installation teams.
- Driving operational efficiency, quality and profitability.
- Developing customer relationships and supporting commercial growth.
- Overseeing project delivery from order through to installation.
- Coaching and developing managers and employees.
- Working with the owners to deliver the company’s long-term strategic objectives.
- Creating a culture of accountability, continuous improvement and excellent customer service.
About You
We’re looking for an experienced General Manager or senior operational leader who has grown through an engineering or contracting environment and enjoys taking ownership of an entire business. You’ll be commercially aware, technically credible and comfortable making decisions across operations, projects and people.
Ideally you’ll have experience within:
- Industrial ventilation
- Dust extraction
- Fume extraction
- HVAC contracting
- Mechanical Building Services
- Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV)
- Industrial engineering projects
Most importantly, you’ll understand how to lead a workshop-based engineering business that manufactures and installs bespoke customer solutions.
Why Join?
This is a genuine opportunity to take over the operational leadership of a successful and respected engineering business. You’ll inherit an experienced team, benefit from a structured handover with the outgoing Managing Director and have the autonomy to shape the future direction of the company.
For the right individual, this is far more than a General Manager position—it’s an opportunity to become the driving force behind an established business with an excellent reputation and significant opportunities for future growth.
