A rewarding opportunity to support clients through some of life’s most important moments, while developing your career within a supportive and experienced probate team.
This is a varied and client focused role within a busy probate department. You will manage your own caseload and be responsible for providing clear, professional advice to clients, many of whom may be elderly or dealing with bereavement. The work will include:
- Drafting wills and lasting powers of attorney
- Handling probate and estate administration matters
- Dealing with Court of Protection issues
You will regularly meet clients both in the office and at their homes or care settings, take instructions, prepare documentation and submit applications to the Probate Registry. You will also be expected to maintain accurate files, use the case management system effectively, meet deadlines and ensure correspondence and documentation are prepared to a high standard.
Alongside fee-earning work, the role involves contributing to the growth of the department by building relationships, identifying additional services for existing clients and supporting wider business development activity. There is genuine scope for progression for someone who can work independently and takes a proactive approach to their career.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years’ PQE in probate and private client work, particularly in advising on wills, lasting powers of attorney and estate administration. A good working knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act is important, along with strong organisational skills and attention to detail. You should be confident dealing with clients, have a professional and approachable manner and be comfortable working as part of a team. Strong IT and communication skills are essential, as is the ability to manage your workload and meet agreed deadlines. The ideal candidate will be motivated, reliable and keen to continue developing their skills. A positive attitude, genuine interest in private client law and willingness to support both colleagues and clients are key to succeeding in this role.
The firm offers a generous benefits package:
- Pension scheme
- Attendance bonus
- 25 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays, with an accrual system after two years’ service
- Additional day off for your birthday
- Access to the Northern Rail discount scheme
- Cycle to Work scheme
- Plus much more…
