This is a chance to build a specialist career advising education providers on complex and rewarding employment matters while working within a supportive and collaborative environment.
The Role
Joining a nationally recognised team, you will work with a diverse portfolio of education clients including independent schools, academies, maintained schools, colleges and universities. Acting as a trusted adviser, you will provide commercially focused and practical employment advice tailored to the unique challenges faced by educational institutions. Your caseload will include a broad range of contentious and non-contentious employment matters, from day-to-day HR advisory work through to complex disciplinary and grievance issues, safeguarding concerns, senior executive appointments and exits, restructures and redundancy programmes. You will also advise on the employment aspects of academy conversions, mergers and governance changes, as well as drafting and reviewing employment contracts, policies and staff handbooks. Working closely with headteachers, governors, bursars, COOs and senior leadership teams, you will become a valued extension of your clients' in-house teams, providing pragmatic solutions to complex issues.
The Candidate
Applications are welcomed from Employment Solicitors with at least 4 years' PQE who have solid experience across a broad range of employment matters. You will be technically strong, commercially minded and enjoy building long‑term client relationships. Excellent communication skills and the ability to deliver clear, practical advice are essential.
The Opportunity
This is an excellent opportunity to join a firm with one of the UK's leading education practices, acting for hundreds of educational institutions nationwide. You'll benefit from exposure to high-quality work, excellent mentoring and genuine opportunities to develop your profile within this specialist sector.
