This is a fantastic opportunity for experienced risk and compliance professionals to play a key role in shaping and embedding best practice across a leading law firm.
THE ROLE
- Act as the go-to expert for complex risk and compliance matters, advising partners and staff on professional standards, ethics, regulatory compliance, data protection, and conflicts of interest.
- Partner with senior leadership to champion risk awareness across the firm, promoting best practice and embedding compliance into everyday operations.
- Own and manage a variety of risk and compliance workstreams, including new business initiatives, operational improvements, and process enhancements.
- Use risk and compliance data to identify trends, highlight weaknesses, and implement solutions that strengthen the firm’s controls and procedures.
- Create bespoke training programmes tailored to each division (Commercial, Private Client, Injury), ensuring colleagues understand and apply risk and compliance standards effectively.
- Draft, review, and update policies, bulletins, briefings, and guidance materials to keep the firm informed and compliant with legal and regulatory developments.
- Prepare detailed briefing notes and lead the escalation of higher-risk matters to the Risk Committee when required.
- Guide junior members of the Risk and Best Practice team, fostering their development and helping them navigate complex compliance challenges.
SKILLS REQUIRED
- Extensive experience working in risk and compliance within a law firm.
- Advanced knowledge of the laws, regulations and professional codes of conduct applicable to legal practice.
- Excellent communication skills, with strong report-writing capability.
- The ability to work well within a team environment.
- Highly analytical and numerate, with exceptional attention to detail.
