THE ROLE:
This is a varied and hands-on role supporting a Partner within a busy criminal defence practice. You will be responsible for preparing and drafting legal documents, managing diaries and key deadlines, and acting as a first point of contact for clients. The position will also involve overseeing file management from opening through to closure, coordinating appointments and ensuring all documentation is accurately maintained. In addition, you will take responsibility for tracking and chasing private fees within the road traffic department, helping to ensure payments are received in advance of hearings. The role also includes front-of-house duties, contributing to a professional and welcoming client experience.
THE CANDIDATE:
You will be an organised and detail-oriented Legal Secretary or Legal PA, ideally with experience in a legal environment, though candidates from other professional services backgrounds will also be considered. You will have strong administrative and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced setting. Confident dealing with clients, both over the phone and in person, you will bring a professional and approachable manner, alongside solid IT skills and a good understanding of how a law firm operates. Experience within criminal defence or family law would be advantageous but is not essential.
