A leading law firm in the Dorset and Somerset region, providing legal services locally, nationally and beyond, is seeking a 5+ years' PQE Employment Law Solicitor to join its well regarded Employment practice. The Role

This position sits within the firm's Corporate and Commercial Law Team, working closely alongside another specialist Employment Solicitor. The successful candidate will manage a broad and varied employment law caseload, including both advisory and contentious matters. Typical work includes:

  • Drafting employment contracts, policies and staff handbooks
  • Advising on and managing disputes, including unfair dismissal and discrimination claims
  • HR advisory work including disciplinaries, grievances and redundancies
  • Employment law support on corporate transactions, including employee due diligence and TUPE issues
  • Delivering employment law training to clients

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will be a qualified Solicitor with a strong background and genuine interest in Employment Law, who enjoys working closely with clients and as part of a wider commercial team. You will demonstrate:

  • Well developed skills in employment contract drafting and advisory work
  • Experience resolving employer/employee disputes
  • A sound working knowledge of the Employment Tribunal system
  • The ability to manage a caseload independently while collaborating effectively with colleagues
  • Experience supervising or mentoring junior lawyers and support staff is highly desirable.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • Qualified Solicitor with 5+ years' PQE in Employment Law
  • Broad and up to date technical knowledge across contentious and non contentious Employment matters
  • Proven ability to meet or exceed fee earning, time recording and billing targets
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Good time management and organisational ability
  • Ability to manage own caseload effectively
  • High level of professional integrity and discretion
