Senior Advocate – Fitness to Practise, Maternity Cover, 5 + years’ experience, London/ Hybrid, £60,000 - £75,000 DOE.

A reputable organisation is seeking an experienced Senior Advocate to join its Fitness to Practise team on a 12 month fixed term contract to provide maternity cover.

The organisation offers a comprehensive benefits package, including a competitive salary, employee support programs, and flexible work arrangements THE ROLE: This maternity cover role involves leading a team of in-house presenting officers, coordinating assignments for external advocates, and ensuring high quality representation during statutory committee hearings.

While primarily managerial, the position also includes direct advocacy in complex cases, with occasional appearances in the High Court.

It is a hybrid role, requiring 1–2 days in the office each week, with the remainder worked remotely.

THE CANDIDATE: The organisation is seeking a qualified Barrister with a minimum of five years' experience.

As this is a maternity cover position, the successful candidate will be able to step into the role with confidence, hit the ground running and quickly establish themselves within the team.

The ideal candidate will have experience in professional regulation or a comparable regulatory environment, together with a proven track record in tribunal advocacy and the ability to interpret complex legislation, case law and guidance.

Strong leadership, coaching and communication skills are essential, while experience handling high-profile cases would be advantageous.
