A well-established law firm is seeking an experienced Practice Manager to oversee the day-to-day operational management of the business across multiple offices in Bedfordshire. Reporting directly to the Managing Partner, this role will play a central part in ensuring the firm operates efficiently, remains fully compliant with regulatory requirements and continues to deliver high standards of client service.

You will work closely with senior leadership and Heads of Department to support the firm’s strategic objectives while overseeing operational systems, office management, administrative teams and business processes. The position involves monitoring operational performance, implementing effective procedures and ensuring the firm has the systems and support structures in place to maximise productivity and efficiency across departments.

The role also includes oversight of financial performance in collaboration with the accounts team, reviewing departmental reports, monitoring billing performance and supporting the management of work in progress and debtor levels. In addition, you will assist with compliance processes including regulatory obligations, file management procedures and internal reporting systems.

Alongside operational responsibilities, you will support recruitment and staff development processes, oversee onboarding procedures and maintain HR policies and records. The Practice Manager will also oversee key operational systems including case management, document management and telephony platforms, working with external IT providers to ensure systems are secure and operating effectively.

This role will also support the management of new enquiries and client onboarding processes, ensuring potential instructions are handled efficiently and client experience remains a priority across the firm. Facilities management across multiple offices will also form part of the role, including supplier relationships, health and safety compliance and ensuring offices provide a professional environment for both staff and clients.

The successful candidate will have previous experience in a Practice Manager or senior operational role within a law firm. You will demonstrate a strong understanding of legal practice management, financial performance monitoring and regulatory compliance requirements. You will possess excellent organisational and leadership skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a structured and solutions-focused approach.

Strong analytical ability, commercial awareness and the confidence to work closely with senior leadership will be key. Experience supporting recruitment processes, managing administrative teams and overseeing operational systems within a legal environment will be highly beneficial. Familiarity with case management systems and knowledge of compliance frameworks such as Lexcel or CQS would also be advantageous.

This is a well-regarded and expanding firm with a strong reputation for client service and professional standards. The firm offers a collaborative working environment and values operational excellence, making this an excellent opportunity for an experienced Practice Manager to play a key role in supporting the continued growth and development of the business.
