An excellent opportunity for a Marine Insurance Solicitor to join a growing and internationally recognised marine team handling complex and high‑value disputes across the global shipping and insurance markets.

The Role

  • Advising on a wide range of marine insurance and shipping disputes, including coverage disputes, recovery actions, charterers’ liability claims, reinsurance matters and international trade disputes.
  • The caseload will also include wet and dry shipping matters such as salvage, collision, general average, charterparty disputes, ship sale and shipbuilding disputes.
  • The role involves supporting on complex and high‑profile claims, assisting with policy drafting and working closely with senior lawyers on technically challenging matters across multiple jurisdictions.
  • You will also be encouraged to become involved in networking and business development activity as part of a collaborative and growing team.
  • Hybrid working is supported.

The Candidate

  • A qualified Solicitor with at least two years’ post‑qualification experience gained within a recognised marine or shipping practice.
  • Experience handling marine insurance litigation matters and a strong understanding of shipping disputes and marine insurance principles is required.
  • Exposure to court procedures and arbitration, particularly LMAA arbitration, is advantageous.
  • Strong drafting and analytical skills, commercial awareness and the ability to work effectively within a team environment are essential.
  • Additional language skills would be beneficial but are not a requirement.
