Unmissable opportunity for a Senior Employment Associate, 5 PQE, to join the Birmingham office of this Legal 500 listed national practice. c.£65-90k DOE. Flexible and hybrid working. An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Employment Lawyer to join a highly regarded national Employment & HR team. This role offers exposure to a broad range of contentious and non-contentious employment work, acting primarily for corporate employers across a variety of sectors. You will join a collaborative national team with a strong reputation for delivering commercially focused advice to clients, alongside genuine opportunities for career progression, business development and specialist expertise growth.
The Role
- You will advise on a varied caseload including:
- Employment Tribunal litigation from inception through to final hearing
- Complex and high-value contentious matters
- Day-to-day HR and employment advisory work
- Disciplinary and grievance matters
- Redundancy and restructuring processes
- Discrimination and whistleblowing claims
- Drafting employment contracts, policies and staff handbooks
- Settlement agreements
- Corporate support employment matters
- Employment-related data protection issues
The role offers a strong mix of contentious and advisory work, with the opportunity to develop your profile within a nationally recognised team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Managing a varied employment caseload with appropriate supervision
- Advising employer clients on strategic and operational employment issues
- Conducting Tribunal case management, disclosure exercises and witness statement preparation
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships
- Supporting business development initiatives, networking events and seminars
- Drafting articles, guidance notes and client updates
- Collaborating with colleagues across the wider national team
About You:
Applications are welcomed from solicitors with circa 5 years’ PQE who can demonstrate:
- Strong respondent employment law experience
- Experience handling Employment Tribunal matters independently
- Excellent drafting, advisory and organisational skills
- Commercially focused and pragmatic approach to client advice
- Strong client relationship management skills
- Enthusiasm for business development and networking
- Ability to work collaboratively within a national team structure
- Experience supporting corporate transactions on employment matters would be advantageous, although not essential.
