An established and highly regarded law firm is seeking an ambitious Solicitor or Legal Executive to join its growing Litigation team, focusing on contentious probate matters. This is an excellent opportunity for a litigation lawyer with experience in contentious probate disputes to take ownership of a varied caseload while working alongside experienced specialists on complex and high-value matters. You will manage your own caseload of contentious matters, providing expert advice and representation to clients from initial instruction through to resolution. The role offers exposure to a broad range of disputes and the opportunity to support and mentor junior team members.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing a full caseload of contentious probate and private client litigation matters
- Conducting legal research, investigations and early case assessments
- Advising clients on complex and sensitive disputes
- Drafting pleadings, statements of case and court documentation
- Preparing matters for court and attending hearings, conferences and mediations
- Liaising with clients, counsel, experts and other third parties
- Managing files effectively and ensuring compliance with court deadlines
- Assisting on larger, more complex claims within the team
- Supervising and supporting junior colleagues where appropriate
The successful candidate will:
- Be a qualified Solicitor or ILEX with strong probate litigation experience
- Circa 5 years' litigation experience, although applications from strong candidates outside this range are welcomed
- Experience handling contentious probate matters
- Strong knowledge of the Civil Procedure Rules
- Excellent client care and communication skills
- The ability to manage competing deadlines and priorities effectively
- A proactive, organised and commercially minded approach
- Confidence dealing with sensitive matters, often with emotionally vulnerable clients
