The Opportunity
We are recruiting an experienced HR Advisor to cover maternity leave within a well-established, multi-site manufacturing organisation operating across the UK. This is a hands-on, operational HR role supporting site-based leaders within a fast-paced, union and non-union environment. The successful candidate will take full ownership of their remit, acting as a trusted HR partner to operational managers on 2 sites while working closely with a supportive, pragmatic wider HR team.
Site Coverage & Travel
- Base – Wolverhampton Head Office
- Sites: Cheltenham and Devon
- Travel pattern: Cheltenham: Once a Week / fortnightly - dependant on requirement.
- Newton Abbot: fortnightly (occasionally every 3 weeks if stable)
- Overnight stays available for Devon travel
- Car allowance provided
Key Responsibilities
- Provide first-line HR support to operational and commercial teams
- Manage absence, disciplinary, grievance and performance cases
- Coach and guide line managers
- Act as a gatekeeper for best practice and employment law
- Support both shop-floor and office-based populations
- Build strong professional relationships
- Use HR data and Excel to support decision-making and influence outcomes.
About You:
- 2–5 years’ operational HR experience (manufacturing or similar preferred)
- CIPD Level 5 (or equivalent experience)
- Happy to travel
- Strong employment law knowledge
- Proven experience working with challenging operational leaders
- Confident, resilient, and commercially grounded
- Able to challenge constructively with evidence
- Comfortable working autonomously and knowing when to escalate
