An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and results-driven Head of Service Operations to lead a national on-site service division within a fast-paced engineering environment. This senior leadership role is responsible for the strategic direction, operational performance, and commercial success of a UK-wide mobile service operation. You will lead service delivery across field engineering, shutdown support, project execution and customer service, ensuring work is delivered safely, efficiently, profitably and to the highest possible standard. As a key member of the senior leadership team, you will play a central role in driving operational excellence, developing people, supporting business growth and enhancing customer satisfaction.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement the strategic vision for the service operations division in line with business growth objectives.
  • Lead all aspects of mobile service operations, ensuring safe, effective and profitable delivery of customer contracts.
  • Manage field service engineers, project engineers and third-party contractors.
  • Oversee national scheduling, resource planning and mobilisation.
  • Support planned maintenance, emergency response, shutdown support and project delivery.
  • Drive operational excellence through continuous improvement, standardisation and innovation.
  • Deliver agreed revenue, margin and profitability targets.
  • Monitor financial performance, labour utilisation and operational costs.
  • Support pricing strategy, contract negotiations and major customer tenders.
  • Act as senior operational contact for key national accounts.
  • Build strong relationships with customers, suppliers and industry partners.
  • Champion health, safety, quality and compliance across all service activities.
  • Lead, coach and develop a high-performing team.
  • Support technical problem solving and engineering best practice.
  • Introduce dashboards, KPIs, SOPs and improvement initiatives to enhance performance.

Key Requirements:

  • Significant senior management experience within industrial services, hydraulics, fluid power or engineering.
  • Proven leadership of national service operations.
  • Experience managing large engineering teams.
  • Strong commercial and financial management capability.
  • Experience delivering operational transformation and continuous improvement.
