HSE Recruitment Network is representing a renowned food manufacturing company based in Spalding who are seeking an experienced Health, Safety and Environment Manager. You will be based on a single, complex and fast-paced site that manufactures products for major supermarkets. Seeking a passionate, people-centric and engaging professional who is able to lead with gravitas, support change management, problem solve, develop procedures, and nourish effective and positive culture and behaviours. Safety is their number one priority on site.
Main responsibilities:
- Create and drive HSE strategies (in line with the overall site strategy) to enable delivery of a proactive HSE culture across the entire site, providing a valuable competitive edge to the business through the behaviour of its people.
- Coach and mentor the HSE Co-ordinator (on site) to ensure effective performance.
- Offer sound environmental focused advice to the site, looking after the consent to discharge and environmental permits.
- Ensure all Health, Safety and Environment legal requirements, policies, standards, procedures are interpreted, communicated, documented and systems exist to ensure the site is compliant with current legislation and company policy regarding HSE.
- Develop, implement, maintain, communicate and continuously improve the Health, Safety and Environment management system for the business, ensuring that all relevant paperwork and reports are completed and issued to relevant parties as required.
- Design, implement, monitor and report site HSE performance, analyse trends and develop action plans to deliver site targets regarding HSE.
- Identification and coordination of HSE training and development for managers, enabling effective management of HSE in every respect and ensuring that key personnel involved in Health & Safety activities are competent to fulfil their responsibilities.
- Ensure all incidents are investigated, recorded and reported, identifying and recommending improved practices to reduce accidents. Notification of incidents to enforcement authorities as required.
- Monitor site risk assessment process and provide assistance/advice to site assessors to ensure site risk assessments/safe systems of work are maintained and meet regulatory requirements.
Essential Experience, Training and Qualifications:
- Prior Safety, Health and Environmental experience at Managerial level or senior level
- High risk, fast paced manufacturing OR high risk industry experience ideally in or related to - Food, Beverage, Paper or Packaging
- NEBOSH Certificate, Ideally Diploma or equivalent
