Fast Paced Manufacturing Facility SHE Manager – South West Covering two sites: Wiltshire and Somerset

Salary: up to £80,000 per annum + £5,500 Car Allowance, 10% Bonus and 6% matched pension

Reporting to the General Manager and Head of SHE. I am currently representing a well-established, fast paced and high risk manufacturing company who operate 24/7 and looking for their next SHE Manager.

Seeking a driven, engaging leader to be the subject matter expert across both sites, drive continuous improvement and further mature the behaviours and safety culture across already progressive sites and take them on a journey towards Interdependency and excellence.

This is a role where you can put your own stamp on SHE, take the lead on progressive and innovative projects and be able to really make a positive difference to the workforce.

Main responsibilities:

  • Be the subject matter expert across the site for SHE, supporting the General Manager with a dotted line to the sector Head of SHE.
  • Key member of the site leadership team and offering combined support offering both SHE guidance and be a trusted and approachable site leader.
  • Offering a steady and supportive presence on site following an exciting and large scale acquisition, which is focusing on bringing together the best of both businesses.
  • Devise and implement SHE strategies to enable the delivery of a proactive SHE culture providing a valuable competitive edge to the business through the behaviour of its people.
  • Ensure all Health, Safety and Environment legal requirements, policies, standards, procedures are interpreted, communicated, documented and systems exist to ensure the Business Unit is compliant with current legislation and policy regarding SHE.
  • Develop, implement, maintain, communicate and continuously improve the Health, Safety and Environment management system for the business, ensuring that all relevant paperwork and reports are completed and issued to relevant parties as required.
  • Design, implement, monitor and report SHE performance, analyse trends and develop actions plans to deliver targets regarding SHE.
  • Identification and coordination of SHE training and development for managers, enabling effective management of SHE in every respect and ensuring that key personnel involved in Health & Safety activities are competent to fulfil their responsibilities.
  • Promote and drive a culture of continuous improvement of Health & Safety and best environmental practice through the effective engagement of the workforce.
  • Ensure all incidents are investigated, recorded and reported, identifying and recommending improved practices to reduce accidents.
  • Notification of incidents to enforcement authorities as required.
  • Monitor risk assessment process and provide assistance / advice to assessors to ensure risk assessments / safe systems of work are maintained and meet regulatory requirements.
  • Co-ordinate Business Unit actions with regard to enforcement authorities / loss adjusters and that any communications are reported to the Head of Operations.

Essential qualifications and experience:

  • NEBOSH Diploma, IOSH Level 6 or equivalent.
  • Experience in a fast paced production / manufacturing / engineering sector.
  • Experience in improving cultural change and encouraging the right positive behaviours.
  • Able to translate the technical into practical, usable and simple SHE solutions.

  • Confident with the ability to influence, gain buy in, across a fast paced environment.
  • Hands on and approachable.
  • Aware of the bigger picture and can drive accountability downwards to the workforce.
