Majorly backed Manufacturer in the East Midlands are currently looking for an Operations Manager to join the team and drive the managerial team. With the business in a strong place and supplying into a number of different manufacturing sectors, you will be responsible for the continual improvement of the business whilst managing direct reports in Production, Logistics & Maintenance and supporting HR & the Commercial team. Reporting into the General Manager, you will be a strong communicator and a key advocate for engagement with internal stakeholders, the workforce & external stakeholders. You will be a key ambassador for Quality, Health & Safety, People, Cost & Delivery and a key part of driving cultural change on site and within the Production team. Strong order book & a profitable business – this represents a good opportunity.
Role Details
- Salary: up to £60,000 (depending on experience) + bonus + benefits
- Location: Derbyshire (commutable from Derby, Rotherham, Sheffield, Chesterfield, Nottingham, Mansfield)
Key Responsibilities for the Operations Manager
- Oversee day‑to‑day operations using the SQCDP review & implement improvements where possible.
- Develop and grow your direct reports and the team around you to build a positive and nurturing environment.
- Manage direct reports in Maintenance, Production, Transport as well as supporting Commercial & HR activity.
- Manage and mentor a diverse team, fostering engagement and professional growth.
- Drive a strong culture of Health & Safety on site.
- Collaborate with sales teams to meet revenue targets and identify market opportunities.
- Help implement a culture of process improvement with your management team.
Key Requirements for the Operations Manager
- Tangible record of success in a Senior Management role within a Metals/Heavy Engineering Environment.
- Qualification in Engineering (Degree, HNC, HND) – ideal.
- Formal qualification in NEBOSH/IOSH – ideal, or experience driving HSE in a regulated environment.
- Strong communication skills – key; forging strong relationships with your various direct reports.
- Engagement & Empowerment will be key to this role.
