Global manufacturer with sites across the world is looking for a hands-on Production Manager to lead a multi-discipline manufacturing operation. You will own day-to-day production performance, ensuring work is delivered safely, on time, to cost and to the right quality standards. Reporting into the Operations Manager, the ideal candidate will have exposure to high value manufacturing environments, strong on process flow and capacity planning, and strong in leading and developing teams.
Responsibilities
- Plan and control production schedules across all manufacturing areas.
- Lead both pre-production planning (ERP/MRP scheduling, resource planning, material readiness) and live production execution on the shop floor.
- Manage labour, machines, tooling, fixtures, autoclaves and workspace, ensuring equipment is maintained, calibrated and available.
- Run daily tier meetings, use SQDC and short-interval control to keep work on track, and maintain strong process discipline and visual management.
- Take day-to-day ownership of ERP/MRP usage on the shop floor, including routings, standard times, work centres, calendars and BoMs.
- Work closely with quality and HSE colleagues to ensure a safe working environment, audit readiness, clean (5S) work areas and robust corrective actions.
- Monitor labour efficiency, scrap, machine utilisation, overtime and budget performance, identifying and delivering cost and productivity improvements.
- Lead lean and continuous improvement activities such as 5S, SMED, constraint removal and kaizen events, and standardise the gains.
- Collaborate with engineering, design, procurement, supply chain and customer service, including support to NPI and prototype builds.
- Lead, coach and develop production teams, set clear objectives, run reviews, and maintain skills matrices and cross-training plans.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a production leadership role within CNC, composites or other complex, multi-process manufacturing.
- Experience in a low batch, high value environment would be ideal.
- Good understanding of AS9100/ISO9001 environments and HSE requirements would be ideal.
- Strong analytical skills, comfortable working with KPIs and data.
- Background in defence or aerospace, particularly composites, autoclaves and precision CNC machining.
- Strong Lean toolbox (Kaizen, Six Sigma, CI Skills).
- IOSH Managing Safely (or similar H&S qualification).
