Job Title: Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer Industry: FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods) Location: Telford Salary: £49,400 + good OTE opportunity Shift: Continental Shifts (07:25 – 19:35) Job Summary To provide effective maintenance support across mechanical, electrical, and automation systems in a fast-paced FMCG production environment. The role ensures maximum equipment availability, minimal downtime, and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes through proactive and reactive maintenance. This role is for an industry leading FMCG company that supplies to some of the biggest clients in the industry Key Responsibilities Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on production machinery. Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns, diagnosing and repairing faults to minimize downtime. Maintain and improve mechanical, electrical, and control systems including conveyors, motors, pumps, pneumatics, hydraulics, PLCs, and other automation equipment. Support continuous improvement projects to enhance plant efficiency, safety, and reliability. Work closely with production teams to resolve technical issues quickly and effectively. Record all maintenance activities in CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management System). Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations, GMP, and company quality standards. Identify opportunities for improvement in equipment reliability and energy efficiency. Assist in training and supporting operators with minor maintenance and machine setup. Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring equipment issues.Skills & Experience Required Recognised engineering apprenticeship or equivalent qualification in Mechanical and/or Electrical Engineering. Proven experience in a maintenance role within FMCG, food, beverage, or other fast-paced manufacturing environment. Strong fault-finding skills across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and automation systems. Working knowledge of PLCs, sensors, and control systems (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or similar desirable). Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and schematics. Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive and hands-on approach. Good understanding of health & safety, food safety, and compliance standards. Flexibility to work shifts and respond to breakdowns outside normal hours if required.Key Attributes Self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
