Manufacturing Company – Family owned Safety, Health and Environment Business Partner (Site based SHE leader) Crewkerne, South Somerset £45,000 to £52,500 per annum (depending on experience) + package which includes a bonus 40 hr week – Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm (there is flexibility on offer here).

A pleasure to represent a growing business within the FMCG industry, who are looking for their next Health, Safety and Environment professional to be a subject matter expert on a single production site. The company is in a state of evolution and looking for an engaging and enthusiastic leader to support the site, raise safety standards and take them on a cultural journey.

This position is well supported by the Central HSE Manager; you will be a key member of the wider HSE Team to enable best practice to be shared across the group. Vacancy overview:

  • Seeking a hands-on professional who is visible and approachable across the site, as well as developing the on-site SHE strategy.
  • A proven leader to help raise the bar for safety on site, looking to create a strong platform for safety and then in turn develop their safety culture, think evolution not revolution.
  • Making SHE simple, practical and easy to follow.
  • Be the subject matter expert for the site supporting them with their Health, Safety and Environmental requirements.
  • Work hand in hand with the site leadership team to ensure compliance with the Safety, Health and Environmental Management Procedures and support their strategy.
  • Leadership on site are very engaged and eager to improve standards.
  • Be a key member of the site senior leadership team and offer support and guidance.
  • To influence, collaborate and engage key stakeholders to proactively manage site development for SHE, continuous improvement of safer ways of working.
  • It is a well-supported position, both on site with SHE Reps and the other SHE Business Partners who are based across the other sites in the organisation.
  • Help standardise the group alongside Senior SHE Manager, for this site and support the conversion of group/company wide standards for this site.
  • Provide oversight of legislative compliance to the H&S Manager and Site Management Teams through leading and supporting SHE audits and inspections.
  • Proactively manage and undertake incident investigations to reach root cause, monitor and report on close out of resulting actions.
  • Work in collaboration with the site leadership teams to develop and manage the Site SHE management plans on a risk-based approach engaging with site teams to deliver targeted improvement initiatives.

Ideal background and qualifications:

  • Fast paced manufacturing experience ideally within the bakery, food, drink, paper, packaging, tobacco, brewing, dairy or beverage industry but open to general manufacturing and logistics backgrounds.
  • NEBOSH General Certificate level qualified or equivalent.
  • Awareness of environmental permitting.
  • Able to support behavioural safety program development.
  • Strong training experience, a true coach and mentor.
  • Previous experience managing a single site independently.
