The company I am currently working with offers a range and depth of civil engineering, infrastructure and building services. Contributing to vital parts of the nation’s life through projects required by both private and public sectors. The types of projects range from maintaining highways, airports, railway infrastructure and more.
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Health & Safety Advisor to work on a major highways junction improvement project. Reporting directly into a Health & Safety Manager, you will be responsible for the coordination of all activities related to the implementation, development and maintenance of the internal Safety Management System.
Key Responsibilities:- Build strong working relationships with site managers, supervisors, subcontractors and operatives to promote safe working practices.
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify hazards and unsafe practices to ensure work complies with legal requirements.
- Support or review and develop risk assessments, method statements (RAMS) and safe working systems to align with site standards and legislative obligations.
- Deliver toolbox talks, attend safety meetings and briefings, and inductions to site operatives on key safety topics and high-risk activities (e.g., traffic management, excavation).
- Monitor and report near misses, incidents or accidents, ensure they’re recorded and investigated.
- Help identify root causes and follow up on corrective actions to prevent repetition.
- Maintain and support the implementation of the internal Safety Management System.
- Keep safety records up to date, including inspection reports, training logs and audit results.
- Demonstrable health and safety experience in construction and CDM Regulations.
- NEBOSH Level 3 Certificate in Construction Safety and Health or equivalent.
- CSCS cardholder.
- An understanding of the requirements of BS OHSAS 45001:2018.
- Good interpersonal skills with the ability to guide and educate/train at all levels.
- Good presentation, written, analytical and IT skills.
