HSE Recruitment is working with a global residential property company to source a Fire Engineering Director. This is a newly created role in a newly created division with the focus to grow the function and lead its fire engineering capabilities across the UK wide portfolio. You have the chance to really shape the future of the business and leave a legacy.

You will be a principal technical authority on fire engineering, fire safety design, fire strategy and related technical risk. It combines the deep technical knowledge of a Chartered Fire Engineer with the strategic leadership, people management, commercial responsibility and client engagement of an experienced Fire Engineering Director. This role is remote and can be based anywhere in the UK, but regular travel will be expected.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Technical leadership and assurance
  • People leadership and capability development
  • Business and commercial management
  • Governance risk and compliance

Essential Requirements for the role:

  • Chartered Fire Engineer status
  • Degree in Fire Engineering, Fire Safety Engineering or a closely related discipline such as Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering etc.
  • Significant senior level experience in fire engineering consultancy, fire safety design or fire safety management across complex, large-scale or safety critical projects.
  • Experience leading and developing a technical team of 10+
  • Commercial acumen; budget responsibility, resource planning and pricing.
  • Experience operating at a Director level reporting into C-Suite or strong Head of Division experience with exposure to Director responsibilities.
  • Deep knowledge of UK Building Regulations, approved guidance and standards.

Desirable experience would be:

  • Residential, high-rise, mixed use or property management environments.
