We are currently seeking a Workshop Engineer to join our team in Brownhills, Birmingham. This role focuses on servicing, maintaining, and repairing heavy machinery to the highest standards, ensuring excellent service delivery to both internal and external customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Service and repair construction equipment and associated machinery
  • Carry out work in line with job specifications, time guidelines, and quotations
  • Identify and report any additional work required following inspection or strip-down
  • Maintain and use personal tools to complete tasks effectively
  • Install software updates as required
  • Accurately complete service documentation, inspection reports, and oil sample records
  • Record working time and job details in real time using internal systems
  • Order and manage parts required for repairs, ensuring proper handling and return of unused items
  • Work flexibly, including overtime where required
  • Attend training to maintain and enhance technical knowledge
  • Follow all health, safety, quality, and environmental standards

About You:

  • Formal engineering qualification in Plant Maintenance, Agricultural Engineering, HGV Mechanics, or similar
  • Proven experience in maintaining and repairing heavy plant machinery
  • Strong technical knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, drivetrains, hydraulics, and electrical systems
  • Effective communication skills with colleagues and customers
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving ability
  • Cost-conscious approach to work
  • Basic IT skills and ability to use digital systems
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Reliable, responsible, and professional in all aspects of work
  • Able to interpret technical documentation such as service manuals and parts catalogues
  • Welding, fabrication, or line boring experience (desired but not essential)
