Job Title: Principal Solutions Consultant, BESS Location: Oxfordshire (Kidlington) or London (Marylebone), hybrid, two to three days on site
The Opportunity
This is a first of its kind hire.
A fast scaling battery intelligence business, headcount moving from around 110 to a targeted 170 within the year, is creating its first UK based technical authority to sit between sales and delivery.
It is backed by a multibillion pound energy parent with its own net zero commitments, and it already carries proof points that matter: technology embedded deeply enough with major automotive and heavy industry names that it has helped them avoid catastrophic, high cost failures by identifying the small fraction of assets carrying the greatest risk.
A recent acquisition has added an on-premise, embedded layer to what was already a strong cloud platform, and there is a credible AI capability being built out that will shape how battery performance is understood over the next phase of growth.
The go to market team here is deliberately lean, and the delivery function is increasingly stretched by execution.
That gap, between winning the work and proving its value, is exactly what this role exists to close.
There is no one doing this today, no internal candidate, and no fixed playbook.
Whoever takes this on will write it.
- The Impact You Will Have
- Own the technical narrative for the most complex enterprise accounts, from first technical conversation through to expansion and renewal.
- Act as the credible bridge between a lean commercial front end and a delivery function that no longer has capacity to lead presales, shaping how deals are won and how value is proven afterwards.
- Design deployment strategies for some of the most demanding battery assets in the world, directly influencing adoption, ROI and long term account value.
- Sit at the centre of sales, product and delivery with no direct authority over any of them, and be the reason they move in the same direction.
- Build the playbook, frameworks and standards this function will run on as it scales into new geographies and, over time, new asset classes.
- What Success Looks Like
- Genuine technical credibility in battery energy storage, built on an engineering or technocommercial background rather than borrowed language.
- Comfortable being the most informed person in the room, equally at ease with engineers debating tech stack and executives weighing commercial risk.
- Consultative by instinct: motivated by solving a customer’s problem properly, not by closing the fastest possible deal.
- A career that shows real staying power and, ideally, a recognisable name behind it, rather than a pattern of frequent moves.
- Thrives without a rulebook, and is energised rather than unsettled by building structure from nothing.
- What Is on Offer
A base salary at the top of the market for this profile, a bonus scheme with genuine share based upside, and a benefits package built for the long term, including private health, pension and an electric vehicle scheme.
Beyond the package, this is a seat at the table of a business still writing its own rules, with real scope to shape a function that could broaden geographically and, for the right person, grow into a team they lead.
Few roles offer this much room to define what comes next.
This is not a role for someone who wants to be told what to do, or who needs a settled process to feel comfortable.
It is for someone who has been quietly excellent in a technical, customer facing capacity and is ready to build something with their name on it.
