Overview

We are seeking an experienced Head of Software and Systems to lead a multidisciplinary team in the design, development, and delivery of innovative products, applications, and services.
The Role
As Head of Software and Systems, you will be responsible for leading both the software and systems engineering teams. This is a strategic role that combines technical leadership with people management, ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality, high-performance solutions.
You will be instrumental in shaping the technical direction of projects, proposing and implementing innovative solutions that meet cost, specification, and quality targets. Your leadership will ensure technical feasibility and compliance with design requirements, while also guiding detailed technical reviews and providing expert input across the full software and systems lifecycle.
Within the systems team, you will define and advise on appropriate methodologies to translate system requirements into detailed design specifications for product manufacture and deployment. You will oversee system architecture, modelling and simulation, systems analysis, testing, statistical analysis, and reliability engineering.
For the software team, you will establish and maintain robust development processes, including architectural design, detailed implementation guidelines, configuration management, and validation and verification procedures. You will ensure consistency in documentation and modelling across the organisation.
You will also play a key role in project and risk management, working closely with the Engineering Product Manager to plan day-to-day activities, mitigate risks, and ensure successful project delivery. Maintaining clear documentation and responding effectively to customer requirements will be essential.

You will be an accomplished leader with a strong background in managing and inspiring multidisciplinary engineering teams. Your experience will include hands-on involvement in software development, systems architecture, and testing, allowing you to lead with both strategic insight and technical credibility.

You will also bring experience in managing the full product development lifecycle, from concept through to deployment, and will be adept at solving complex technical challenges with innovative, cost-effective solutions.
