The predicted salary is between 13 - 17 £ per hour.

We are searching for an experienced Instrument Technician located in Fawley, Southampton. This is your opportunity to join a global technology company, driving energy and innovation for a balanced plant. This is initially a 12 month contract, pay rate range is £20-22.40 per hour.

What You Will Do:

  • Carry out instrument planned and breakdown maintenance.
  • Carry out project installation (CAPEX) and commissioning, review and mark up of drawings.
  • Assist and/or supervise contractors and service personnel in maintaining Instrument, electric and other plant equipment.
  • Complete production-critical repairs and all critical inspections in a safe and timely manner to maximise availability of plant and avoid overdue inspection activities.
  • Execute work in a safe manner in accordance with ‘safe working practices’, site standards, and site safety systems such as Task Risk Assessments and Maintenance Procedures.
  • Procure spares and equipment from suppliers. Ensure and maintain adequate economic stores of materials, equipment and tools.
  • Liaise with instrument, electrical and other specialist engineers.
  • Carry out department audits; represent department in site safety initiatives and legislative matters, advise in development of safe working practices/procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Recognised apprenticeship or Company traineeship scheme and appropriate technical qualification; e.g. City and Guilds, ONC, HNC etc.
  • 5 years minimum experience in refinery, chemical or allied industry working on Instrumented Systems.
  • Training and approved to work on hazardous area equipment e.g. CompEx or equivalent. Able to operate in a small team, on a multi-trade basis and possessing communication/supervisory skills, a proactive positive attitude and self-motivation.
  • Good working knowledge of local procedures and safe working practices.
  • Have knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and be able to demonstrate the ability to work with computers.
