Highways Labourer 8am - 4-30pm £27,711.00 The position of Labourer will be filled by a person who is skilled and qualified to a minimum competency standard imposed by Highways Operations. They will execute a variety of tasks accepted throughout the industry for general highways/ civil engineering ground works in either a maintenance or scheme environment Key responsibilities Carry out all duties in accordance line with risk assessments, method statements and safe working procedures. Carry out standard daily vehicle checks, and maintenance. Co-operate with colleague(s) to ensure efficient teamwork. To carry out all types of highways duties ensuring compliance with specification, quality standards, and in accordance with all current relevant codes of practice and legislation To carry out excavation, laying subbase to levels, laying base and wearing courses, concreting, laying small areas of paving and kerbing, etc To install all types of street furniture including signal poles, guard rails, litter bins, cycle racks, etc. and to liaise with suppliers on site where necessary Must be prepared to work in all weather conditions Key tasks To complete all necessary paperwork/ utilise technology and systems relating to the position. To erect and dismantle temporary traffic management including cones, signs, temporary traffic lights, barriers, etc. To drive, when required, any vehicle or plant deemed necessary that you are licensed for, or have received training for To plan and organise works directly from drawings, specifications or work instructions. To measure, mark out, calculate and order materials as required/ in the absence of the manager To carry out all works in an efficient and effective manner To liaise with supervisors, clients, members of the public, and colleagues as required Undertake any additional job training deemed necessary Undertake any duties commensurate with the grading of the post The post holder must carry out their duties with full regard to the Equal Opportunities Policy, Code of Conduct, and all other Policies.
